REX Controls s.r.o. is involved in research and development of advanced control algorithms, supporting and diagnostics tools for embedded real time control of processes and machines as well as tools for rapid prototyping.

Our objective is to bridge the gap between the fast developing automatic control theory and the present state of industrial practice. We would like to reach the higher quality of controlling process, which almost always lead to positive economic results.

We suppose that the control algorithm quality and sophistication is not limited by hardware at present but by the used design system properties. The perfect results can be obtained only by using a first-rate design system with a graphic configuration tool of the control strategy, with the intelligent build in algorithms and with the possibility of preceding simulation.

Our strategy consists of the usage of globally spread Matlab Simulink package which is well known to all younger control engineers. This well verified system has a lot of excellent features. However, the standard blocks contain only “academic” algorithms which are not suitable for industrial control. For example the PID controller block provides neither antiwind-up nor autotuning function. The next disadvantage is that the control scheme cannot be transforrmed to the targed platform with C/C++ language. Finally, the price of Simulink for industrial controlis too high.

All of this disadvanteges eliminates our control system REX which user interface looks like Simulink.Comparing to Simulink, REX has a lot of useful features necessary for industrial usage.

The REX system is our main product. On its base one cane create very complicated and sophisticated real-time control systems and diagnostic and supportive tools for platforms with the C/C++ compiler including simple boards for embedded control, PLC's with Windows CE or PharLap RT-OS or standard computer with Windows 98/2000/NT/XP, VxWorks, ...


The REX system is a base of our very successful RexTune software for automatic tuning of industrial controllers.
