REX is the multiplatform real-time control system compatible with the globally spread MATLAB/Simulink.
At present, REX is implemented for MS Windows (2000 or XP recommended), Windows CE .NET and for real-time operating system Phar Lap ETS.
The compatibility between REX and Matlab-Simulink is ensured by the large function block library RexLib,
which exists for Matlab-Simulink and all target platforms.
The control algorithm can be designed directly in Matlab-Simulink (or even simulated) or in a special
RexDraw SW (part of REX). The structure of REX is clear from this poster.

Full version of the REX control system for Windows 2000/XP/Vista. The system is purchased with a hardware USB dongle HASP, which allows the user to transfer the licence from one computer to another.
The version is suitable for:
- Computation power demanding applications which need powerful PCs or IPCs (Industrial PCs)
- Portable applications running on notebooks
- Applications with rich HMI (human machine interface) from third parties. These applications are connected with REX using the OPC server RexOPCsvr (included in the product)
- "Soft real-time" applications where the requirements concerning the sampling period precision are not extremely strict. The recommended minimum sampling period is 20 msec (in some cases 100 msec)
Usful drivers (included in the product price):
- AdvDrv - driver for cards and modules by Advantech Co.
- MbDrv - Modbus communication protocol driver supporting Master as well as Slave modes. Both modes are implemented for serial ports and TCP/IP
- NidDrv - driver for USB devices by National Instruments, Inc. This solution is suitable for mobile control systems running on notebooks
- OPCDrv - driver for communicaton with OPC DA serveres by third parties. The driver is operating as an OPC client

The version is suitable for:
- Control application of medium-rate machines and processes
- Good price/performance ratio applications where the HMI (human machine interface) software runs on the same station as the control algorithm. REX OPC server (included in the product) is used for the communication between REX and HMI software
- Both centralized and distributed applications with a wide range of input/output modules
- "Hard real-time" applications with strict requirements on the sampling period stability. Minimum achievable sampling period is 2 msec (only for very simple tasks), typical minimum sampling period is 5 - 10 msec
